Radon Testing
Description
Radon is responsible for more than 21,000 lung cancer deaths a year (one every 25 minutes). 1 in 5 radon tests made in Florida are found to be elevated. Locally the number of homes reporting elevated radon varies from a high of 7 out of 10 to a low of 1 out of 100. Elevated radon levels have been reported from all regions of Florida. The only way to tell if your home has radon is to test for it. Radon is a radioactive gas that seeps through invisible cracks or crevices in homes or buildings. The gas occurs when uranium in soil decays naturally. Radon is the 2nd leading cause of cancer in the US. Once it sneaks into your home, it collects in low-lying areas and build up slowly to dangerous levels. Prolonged exposure to radon can have a significant and injurious effect on health. As a colorless and odorless gas, radon is imperceptible gas, the only way to detect it is to test for it. Active detection involves measuring radon levels in a section of your home and showing results while inactive testing involves collecting and testing air samples over a long period of time. Both methods work well in determining the risk level in a home. The EPA recommends radon testing as a way of measure the radon exposure risk. Do not delay, test for radon today.
